Freedom from Sexual Impurity

My Story—
This weekend, I fell back into sexual sin of masturbation and pornography. I allowed myself to become bored, alone, and with too much time on my hands. I gave my mind permission to wander into whatever path or found itself, and gave in. I gave in to my flesh’s desire to read erotic lust stories that I excused for “young adult romance”, knowing that my hunger wouldn’t be satisfied. I knew I wanted more. I allowed my fingers to have their way and fell into the trap of watching porn on my phone, which caused me to masturbate.

This particular night, my church had a prophetic encounter, where towards the end of service, our Apostle and our prayer team prayed over people who hadn’t dealt with the roots of their past, specifically those connected to sexual sin: being raped/molested, pornography addictions, etc.

Even after praying and allowing the prayer team to pray for my roots to be eradicated (being molested at age nine) I still left the service that night mentally bound. I spoke in tongues, I sowed a seed on the Word Of God, but I kept flirting and allowing the pleasure I felt take God’s rightful place: the throne of my very being.
I did all of the “Christian” things, but I wasn’t bought in mentally that God really desired for me to be truly set free and delivered.

Why? Because i kept flirting with poisonous sin that would be the death of me.

It wasn’t until I came to church today and allowed God unto my mind and my heart that I realized that the work God is doing in me, and where He desires to take me, is far greater than this sin I’m dealing with. I had to make up in my mind today that, while still struggling with the thought of going back, I would no longer allow my mind or heart to have authority over my destiny.

Lessons from the Holy Spirit

Sexual impurities; such as lust, incest, pornography, masturbation, sexual speech, fornication, and homosexuality-these are fruits of the flesh, meaning they did not come from God. Understand that God did not create that, in fact, the Bible states that those that indulge in these sins, along with a number of others, will not enter into His Kingdom of Heaven (Galatians 5:19-21)

SINCE THE ENEMY CANNOT KILL YOU, HE WANTS THE NEXT BEST THING: YOUR MIND (thought process). This is why the Bible tells us that we must renew our minds daily (Romans 12:2) and make every thought submit unto the word of God (2Corinthians 10:5). He comes in through movies, tv shows, satanic (not necessarily secular) music, He uses creative outlets: what you see and hear enters into your mind, which affects the heart, which influences the actions of a person.

KNOW THIS: God is not mad at you. He truly loves YOU. You are not what you have down. His Son already died for that (John 3:16— read this verse carefully).

Even on the days in which we think we aren’t sinning, we still need salvation; we still need His grace and mercy and WE STILL NEED DELIVERANCE!
How are we delivered? Firstly, we have to receive salvation by accepting Jesus Christ into our lives as our Lord and Savior.
Secondly, we must CAST EVERYTHING onto Him because He’s already told us in His Word that He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). We do this by confessing with our mouths the sin that we willfully committed, the root of the issue, this means examining our past. There’s also a number of spirits that is grouped with sexual sin that must be casted into dry places along with sexual immorality: shame, anger, procrastination, and any other distractions that lead us from God
We cannot expect be healed, set free, or delivered if we do not truthfully confront every layer of our past and allow God to dig up every weed and demonic root that did not come from Him.
Thirdly, after repenting, we must make a bold and firm decision in our mind (Proverbs 23:7) that we will not be bound; We will not go back, and we will not allow Satan or his imps to gain any control over our mind, body, heart, spirit or soul.

The CovenantEyes App

I just added this accountability app onto my phone. It allows someone else, that you choose, to walk with you through this daily deliverance process. Once you’re delivered, you must take the proper steps to maintain your deliverance.
This is a daily fight. The enemy does not want is free. He knows how much we enjoyed being in sexual sin, and will come even harder to try and get us back.
We. Must. Fight.
How? First and foremost, by putting on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Other practical tools we must fight use, are: blocking tv shows, deleting apps off of our phone, cutting out sexual music and tv shows that arouse us, avoiding sexual topics of conversation, and also letting the community around us know about the changes we have made in our lives. We are not called to walk into Deliverance by ourselves. We need community. We need each other.

-My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19,20
-I have the mind of Christ, therefore my mind is pure. (1 Corinthians 2:16)
-I think upon things that are pure and lovely and pleasing to God (Philippians 4:8)
-I am God’s handiwork— I am made in His image (Genesis 1:26; Jeremiah 1:5)
-I have been redeemed and forgiven (Colossians 1:13,14)
-I am renewed (2 Corinthians 5:17)
-I am loved by God (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 3:17-19)
-Because I am in Christ Jesus, I am free from ALL condemnation (Romans 8:1-2)
-I am FREE FROM ALL BONDAGE (Romans 8:31-39)

  1. Really blessed by this peace! Many lessons to be learned and can be applied to my own situation and fighting sexual immorality. Thank you writing and sharing this.

    • Thank YOU for writing this! I’m just here to bless others; I appreciate your maturity and openness. God truly does love you and I do too!

  2. Thank you for this it is very helpful with my current fight of sexual perversion and pronography. I have always gone back and forth with this fight and always wanted to over come my addiction but some how I seem to fall right back into the same cycle. So this really gave me a new perspective of a issue that I have dealt with in secrete for years now. I’m getting to a serious point in life we’re I am wanting god to handle it so I can’t overcome and move on from ;instead of fighting against it myself . It is also so refreshing to see that I am not the only one who struggle for a while I felt like I was the only one but I’m seeing that there are others who have overcome and it just gives me hope that I can too.

    • This really blessed and encouraged me. I too still struggle with pornography and lust, but it’s all about letting God into our hearts. There are root issues that we often cover up with things that distract us momentarily, and in order for God to use us, He needs to cleanse us so that we have the authority to help other people heal in the areas He’s allowed us to overcome. Please be encouraged, you WILL overcome and will be a living testimony for someone else’s breakthrough!

  3. Thank you for your frankness. Overcoming the addiction is definitely a process which I too am currently going through. Be encouraged and I pray that God continues to use you to bless others.

    • I really appreciate your encouragement, thank you. We will overcome! There’s so much greater that God wants to do through His children. Once we get through this, it opens the door for the Holy Spirit to move freely through us.

  4. I’ve been blessed by this. Fighting pornography, masturbation and fornication. It’s such a great comfort to see people who are going through same being vocal about it and encouraging other to overcome and say no to the devil’s lies and deceit. I’m particularly happy, you measured the issue of roots, being exposed to abuse from a tender age can be a major factor. Thank you for doing what you do, God bless you richly and make us all more than conquerors in this area and other areas where secret sins so easily beset us in Jesus’ Name

    • I truly appreciate and am blessed by your feedback! I pray that God continues to strengthen you with His armor as you progress towards overcoming sexual sin of all kinds. God truly adores and loves you. Keep that truth close to your heart.
